Embark on a Christian heritage walking tour through Oxford's historic city centre, tracing the spiritual legacy woven into its streets and landmarks. We will begin our story with St Frideswide and hear how Oxford was founded on prayer. The tour will continue to journey through the medieval city and its rich monastic traditions. These were thrown into tumult by the Reformation, which we will explore at the memorial to the Martyrs. Our walk will also take us to the centres of revival and awakening with the Wesleys and their 'Holy Club.' Finally we will emerge into the twentieth century as C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien paced these streets, with other surprises in store!
Whether you’re drawn to stories of faith, the beauty of sacred architecture, or the impact of Christian revivals and awakenings on education and culture, this tour offers a unique and thought-provoking perspective on one of the world’s most famous university cities.
Join us for an inspiring journey through Oxford’s sacred past and present!
